    What is anxiety?

    Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry or nervousness that lodges itself in our body - that ultimately feels very uncomfortable. It can be anything from slight to debilitating. Sometimes anxiety occurs during specific events or situations for example if you are afraid of enclosed spaces then anxiety will be worse when you are in tunnels or lifts.

    Or maybe you have social anxiety, which is made worse by meeting new people or by having to talk in a group. Whatever the trigger, anxiety has a range of common symptoms such as increased heart rate, feeling nausea, dry mouth, wanting to escape, sometimes feeling the urge to rush to the toilet, you may only have some of these sensations. However, one thing we definitely know about anxiety is that it is not pleasant.
